Exciting Events to Kick off the Summer

Can you believe that it’s June already? Everyone at our holiday cottages in Norfolk certainly can’t, even with the glorious weather we have been treated to recently!

That’s right, the sun has been shining and the birds singing, bees have been going about their business and it’s been so warm we have even dined alfresco! This shift in the weather also means that more and more activities are taking place here on the Norfolk Broads, with the week ahead looking particularly exciting…

The Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a great event right up until Sunday 14th September. It’s called The Wonder of Birds, and is a really interesting exhibition that combines art and natural history to explore the cultural impact of birds on us humans. Split into sections such as ‘Predators and Prey’ and incorporating works by major artists and illustrators, the exhibition is sure to captivate family members of all ages.

For those who fancy something a little spookier, the Ghost Walk at Ranworth on Tuesday 3rd June isn’t to be missed! During a gentle stroll around the village and through the boardwalks, you’ll learn all about Ranworth’s ghost stories, legends and spooky history!

With the advent of the World War One centenary, there is no shortage of commemorative events working to bring this part of history to life. One such event is the D-Day Celebration Dance at Brooke Village Hall on Friday 6th June, where everyone is invited to dance to the sound of The Skyliners Band. Who doesn’t like a bit of Glen Miller?

For those who are looking to do something a little less energetic, Aylsham Country Market at Aylsham Town Hall is a great place to potter about and explore. On Friday June 6th stalls will be selling everything from cakes, desserts and savouries to preserves, plants, meat and craft items – all locally produced of course!

Finally, The Canoeman is running a fantastic Swallows and Amazons event here on the Norfolk Broads on Sunday 8th June. Kids and adults alike will experience a whole day full of walking, canoeing, wildlife spotting, alfresco lunching, archery and bushcraft led by the Canoeman himself. It’s not to be missed!

Of course, there is a whole lot more to see and do down here around our bed and breakfast cottages on the Norfolk Broads, just waiting for you to come down and explore it!
