Seal the future

There’s never a dull moment in Norfolk, not even the weather. We might be blowing our own trumpet here, but we think we have the best weather in the country! With winter arriving safe and sound, we couldn’t help but share this story with you and it’s just adding another reason why you should stay in one of our cottages in Norfolk.

BBC’s Winterwatch will be capturing a record-breaking seal colony in the north of Norfolk using pioneering filming techniques including military-grade thermal imaging. This would have been the first time that the BBC has used this filming technique to capture thousands of seals on the Blakeney Point National Trust reservoir at night. It all sounds very exciting doesn’t it?

This winter, there have been over 1,756 seal pups born at the Blakeney reservoir and there are still a couple more months of winter to go yet. They are just the sweetest of animals and we’re proud to be home to them here at Norfolk.

If you like me, you also have a soft spot for seals then you must visit Blakeney Point National Trust reservoir to see the baby seals in person. It’s a breath taking experience and a memory that you will treasure for years to come. You can stay in of our luxury cottages in Norfolk, explore the rest of the picturesque Norfolk Broads and enjoy some of our home comforts. It’s the perfect family break.
